Walking Leader Training 9 Mar 2012

Walking Leader Training is primarily aimed at people wishing to lead a walking group or promote walking in the community or workplace. The course comprises of a weekend of training and a follow up 4 week walking programme. The next training is taking place in the Cavan / Leitrim area.

European Congress of Adapted Physical Activity 6 May 2012

Putting Practice Based Research into Action. The European Conference in Adapted Physical Activity is a big event in the Adapted Physical Activity field and it is coming to Killarney in 2012. Themes include: Adapted Physical Activity, Adapted Physical Education, Rehabilitation and Disability sport. Keynote speakers include Mary Davis, Dr. David Carless, Dr. Donna Goodwin, Dr. Vicky Tolfrey and Dr. Jennifer Harris.

Oxfam Trailtrekker 1 Sep 2012

Trailtrekker is an event challenge for teams of four. You can choose from two challenges - the 100km or the 50km. The 100km is the ultimate challenge! The 50km takes in the best bits of the 100km route and provides a great day out! All teams commit to fundraising for Oxfam. Training is strongly recommended! Oxfam will assist you with fundraising activity, training plans and a training walk will be provided. The event starts Donard Park, Co Down, it follows the Mourne Mountains, Ring of Gullion and Cooley Peninsula and finishes in Carlingford, Co Louth. If you want to get fit, have fun and support a great cause then look no further! Early Bird Registration Fee of €100 per team until February14th, so do not miss out! Full Registration Fee of €200 per team after February 14th.

Carrickmacross Lions Club North East Cycle Challenge 6 May 2012

The cycling community of Carrickmacross has joined forces with The Carrickmacross Lions Club to launch The North East Cycle Challenge, which will take place on Sunday May 6th 2012. The event will cater for all cyclists, with the 100km Drumlin Route extending through parts of Cavan and mid Monaghan and the 30km Oriel Route which will have the picturesque village of Tallanstown as its destination”. He added that anyone interested in getting ready for the Challenge are welcome to join them on their weekend spins leaving Carrickmacross Courthouse on Saturdays and Sundays at 9.30am for advanced cyclists. Beginners are welcome on Sundays at 10am and leisure cyclists start at 10.30am on Sundays. Contact Patrick Cassidy on 087-9010597 for further details.

The Long Walk Home - Grand Canal Walk 4 May 2012

The Long Walk Home will take place over the May Bank Holiday Weekend (May 4th - 7th). We will be walking across Ireland from Shannon Harbour to Dublin, following the trail of the Grand Canal. The challenge will take place over 4 days and participants will cover approx. 32km each day. What better way to get fit, make new friends and explore some of unseen Ireland, all while raising much needed funds for Peter McVerry Trust, which serves the needs of young homeless people.
